AI Storytelling Contest: Writing a Story in Collaboration with AI on the Theme “It Was an Ordinary Day at the University”

From September 15 to 28, 2025, the Department of Online Learning of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University organized a creative contest for students, where participants could create a short story on the theme “It Was an Ordinary Day at the University” in collaboration with artificial intelligence. The contest was held as part of AI Week and aimed to develop creative thinking, digital skills, and explore the potential of AI in literary creation. This format helps students not only express their imagination but also learn how to effectively interact with modern digital tools.

Each story submitted for the contest was created in cooperation with AI – whether through idea generation, assistance in structuring and editing the text, co-writing dialogues, voiceover production, or generating a video based on the story.

Students from various faculties took part in the competition, and all works were created using AI tools. By the collective decision of the judging panel – which included staff from the Department of Online Learning and faculty members from the Philology Department – four of the best works were selected out of eleven submissions.

The laureates of the contest were awarded certificates of recognition from the Rector and valuable prizes.

The AI Storytelling contest became not only an opportunity to showcase creative potential but also a step toward understanding how technology can inspire and expand the horizons of human imagination.
